Paint It is a two person collaboration with Sam Yick for the playoff campaign for the NHL Anaheim Ducks Playoff Season. Paint It focuses on the dynamic energy of the players and the fans in the stands. The choice of paint not only speaks to the name of the playoff campaign, but also aims to appeal to fans that want to “paint it orange” without having to paint their faces
NHL Anaheim Ducks
campaign identity / merchandise / social media / outdoor advertising
Our Paint It campaign uses type as a main element instead of as an afterthought. The typography direction was to display the energy, the adrenaline rush, and also the gritty of the sport. However, we also wanted to appeal to the general area and demographic of Anaheim, CA. while also trying to appeal to a demographic in Long beach, CA.
Just like our typography choices, the design direction we chose was for the outdoor advertisement was to showcase heavy type, the very bold Anaheim Duck Orange, and executing the desire to capture the players in celebration. Also making individual players look and feel like rock stars.
We incorporated the idea of die hard fans painting their faces and pitched the idea of having snapchat face recognition filters. One direction was to paint your face orange and the other direction was to become the mascot, Wild Wing. Instagram post and Facebook / Twitter covers were also included.
Outside of our t-shirt designs, we also created car decals and sun visors to represent The Ducks on the go.
